₿Buckazoids are the in-game currency of Sierra On-Line's Space Quest series of point-and-click adventures (1986 onward).
In Space Quest IV (1991), look closely at the buckazoid coin in your inventory and the mark stamped on it is a capital B with vertical strokes through it, a near match for the Bitcoin symbol ₿. That is 17 years before the Bitcoin whitepaper (2008) and 18 before the genesis block (3 Jan 2009).
The player starts that game holding 59 buckazoids. (Yes, that's why there are 59 of everything around here.)
On 27 March 2025 a Reddit post titled "BTC in a game from 1991?" put the coin back in front of everybody, and the coincidence spread fast from there.
A fan community catalogues the theories and coincidences at projectb59.com/sierra/buckazoids/. Even they say none of it proves anything. Most old-school fans think the B just stands for "buckazoid".
